THE POSITIVE POWER & INFLUENCE PROGRAM® Methodology, Design & Options

The Positive Power & Influence Program teaches participants how to work with and through others to get things done
to meet business objectives while building and/or maintaining positive relationships. The program moves briskly
through influence concepts to focus participants on mastering influence behaviors and getting prepared to apply new skills
at work after the program. The program agenda can be tailored to fit your specific needs and we are happy to work with you
to create industry or role specific exercises for your group if necessary.
Adult Learning Techniques used in the program include assessments, readings, short input lectures, exercises
(individual, in pairs and group), case studies, role-plays, self-directed learning, fish bowl demonstrations and trainer and
peer feedback, a/v feedback and coaching. Video and/or audio is used in 2 and 3-day programs and role-play simulations
are chosen from an extensive library and can be customized.
Program Design
PRE-PROGRAM ASSESSMENT: Prior to the program, participants collect data from associates via a 360-degree feedback
instrument (optional). This data is used in conjunction with taped simulation and in-program feedback to clearly identify
which influence styles each participant tends to use, as well as to highlight personal opportunities to become more
influential. Versions of the program that do not require a 360-degree pre-program assessment are also available.
DEVELOPING STYLE AND FLEXIBILITY: Participants learn the fundamentals of influence styles they use infrequently or
ineffectively. They also practice the influence styles with which they are already familiar, learning how to apply them more
effectively. Participants thoroughly explore all styles and develop personal learning goals for the remainder of the program.
DEVELOPING INFLUENCE SKILLS: Participants practice using a variety of influence styles in relevant and challenging
situations to hone their ability to diagnose an influence situation, craft an influence strategy using a diagnostic tool and
strategically apply the most effective style for the situation.
APPLICATION PLANNING: Last and most important, participants prepare to apply what they have learned to real-life
influence situations using tailored simulation and intensive feedback form peers and training staff.
